The Bland County Historical Society is located in the "old jail building." Volunteers are at the jail each Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for research and shopping, and on other days by appointment. Phone (276) 688-0088

Starting at the Festival of Leaves on October 8-9, 2016, the Bland County Historical Society will be offering these new items:

The 2017 Bland County Events Calendar featuring photographs submitted and voted upon by the public of events that take place in many locales across the county.

A new Bland County Design Christmas Ornament.

Ann Hardy Beardshall will be signing and selling her fourth historical glimpse about Bland County entitled "The Mysterious Wesendoncks", No Business (Bland County), Virginia, 1850-1883. All proceeds go to the Bland County Historical Society.

These and many of our other items will be for sale at two locations during the Festival of Leaves:

1. The Bland County Historical Society Office located in the old jail: 10-6 on Sat and 12-6 on Sunday.

2. Small Fair Building on Fairgrounds from 10-6 on Saturday and 12-6 on Sunday.

From 2-4 on Saturday, the Historical Society will also be holding its First Annual Cruise-In. Cars will gather at the Bland County Elementary School and cruise to the Society Office located in the old Jail beside the Courthouse. Besides viewing the magnificent cars, there will be food, displays, and a tour of the jail. You may have your picture taken behind bars for a donation.
