The Bland County Historical Society is located in
the "old jail building." Volunteers are at the jail each
Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for research and shopping, and on other

Historical Society Members:
An often overlooked local resource to Bland County Historical Society
Members is the F. B. Kegley Library at WCC. They have a new archivist
who has been very helpful. Please drop by and see if they have information that will help you in
your pursuit of Bland County genealogy and history. The library was
recently mentioned in
The Virginia Genealogical Society Newsletter.
New Archivist Named for Kegley Library:
William A. "Bill" Veselik, a local genealogist and author with nearly
40 years of genealogical research experience, has been named the new
Archivist at the Kegley Library.
Veselik is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.A. in History. He is
also a member or past member of more than 20 hereditary, genealogical,
and historical societies. He is currently pursuing his Certified
Genealogist designation through the Board for Certification of
Genealogists in Washington, D.C.
He will be available to assist patrons with a variety of genealogical
and historical research projects.
