Bland County Historical Society Home Page

The Bland County Historical Society will sell gift shop items at the Rocky Gap Ruritan Flea Market, Hotdog, and Bake Sale to be held this Saturday, June 15 from 9 am until 3 pm at the picnic shelter at Rocky Gap United Methodist Church. Come by and see us and support the Rocky Gap Ruritan Club by having a hot dog and some baked goods.

Barn Photo Contest for the 2014 BCHS Calendar: We now have over 25 entries in our Barn Photo Contest for the 2014 Calendar. Remember the deadline for submission of photos is July 15. All the photos submitted will be posted at the BCHS on August 1, 2013. Selection of photos for the calendar will take place by public voting at the Historical Society Office. Come by and cast your vote for your favorite barn photos in Bland County.

Book Alert: We still have copies of FAMILY HISTORIES OF BLAND COUNTY VIRGINIA available. The 632-page, hard-bound book contains 124 Bland County family histories that were submitted by the public and includes many photographs and a complete index containing over 8500 names. The Bland County Historical Society is located in the "old jail building". Volunteers are at the jail each Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm for research and shopping, and on other days by appointment. ph (276) 688-0088
